If you didn’t get a chance to pop over to Kala (because you live on the East Coast or some such…) here is a documentation shot from the show. That’s my piece with the bright red…

Systems and Postcards

If you’re in the Bay Area here are two shows to check out this weekend.

Kala, where I’m an artist in residence, just opened their show Systems of Collecting. It’s the second in a series of three shows that explore systems structures. The exhibit features work by Binh Dahn, Mari Andrews, Matthew Troy Mullins, Jeanne O’Connor, and Ethan Turpin.

Over at the Starline Social Club, the Magnum project Postcards from America is up. The photographers (Alec Soth, Susan Meiselas, Jim Goldberg, Paolo Pellegrin, Mikhael Subotzky, and writer Ginger Strand) traveled from San Antonio to Oakland photographing. The show is fun, the space is cool. Check it out.

Fly Over

It’s not much as far as a photograph goes but it’s a starting point for a series of prints I’ll be working on at Kala these next few months. The flight over was good and I woke up the next morning and it was nearly 75˚. Kind of an amazing first day to say the least. We drove down to Monterey in a convertible and of course missed the aquarium but the drive down canceled that disappointment out. It is so beautiful. Words won’t quite describe. Things have been a bit hectic, tramping around figuring things out, orientations, maps, sore feet. Should be up and running this weekend.
